Culture Mission; What's so good about IOT??? A PROCESS

Hiya everyone! Haven't written in a while, i've been very busy with college but I'm back at it for my second mission.

In this mission there were various different options from the last creativity mission that we've done on podcasts. This time I had to form an entirely different group which we thankfully did right after our presentations a couple of weeks ago. There were options such as Youtube, memes, blogging but I wanted to do research on something entirely new to me and to the world itself which was Internet of things. Digital audio was pretty self explanatory but I had no idea what I would be doing for Iot and my group felt the same way, i asked my lecturer Shaun and he thought that a questionnaire would be a good idea which we thought was pretty interesting so we went with it. My goals for this mission are entirely different from my previous one. Before we had to think of questions for this questionnaire we had to research the importance of internet of things and what are the cons that are happening in everyday life. In my own research internet of things is a variety of devices that are connected to the internet such as thermostats, coffee makers, security systems etc.. The future is increasing at such a rapid pace that in a couple of years time we'll have walk in closets that choose our outfits for us based on the weather it is outside. We use the internet of things to communicate with each other and with systems using ''sensors, processors and communication hardware''. But even if this sounds incredible there are obvious issues to this as there would be in internet connected devices.

We decided on our goals for this questionnaire to be based upon security related issues and how many internet connected devices the person has and if they trust them. I decided to do a mind map based on ideas for these questions and sent them off to my group so they could come up with their own. The problem we had with the questionnaire weren't the questions themselves, it was finding a suitable website to do this. Nevertheless one of the people in my group suggested a website because he knew some from his secondary school and he did the questionnaire. Here is the questionnaire if you guys ever wanna do it.

We thought the questionnaire wasn't enough as we had to do 30 hours max of research so we thought of a mind map for everyday devices people use at home, work, travel, school etc.. I will be talking about it in detail in my presentation. I'm excited but nervous since I knew a lot about podcasts but internet of things is completely foreign to me. But I will keep you updated with my reflection.

I don't want to give too many details away but I'll tell you how I got on in my second blog post before my presentation! I had fun with this mission and I didn't know the amount of daily devices that are being made everyday that exceed futuristic expectations. Even hearing about TESLA was so out of the ordinary and the new update that came with it which was basically clicking a button on their phone app and letting the car come to you was unbelievable. There are so many different devices that are either in the works or they're already completed and ready to be launched. There's also so much hacking that's to do with the internet of things, there are crazy stories out there believe me hahaha. I stumbled upon a website link during my research which I enjoyed reading, it's basically ''The weirdest and worst IOT attacks of all time''. I'll definitely be talking about some of the stuff in my presentation as I tend to get through a presentation quicker by talking about bizarre things. In 2019 over 100 million IoT devices have been hacked that's more than I can count on my fingers definitely.

Anyway that's all for today folks, CYA <3

Creativity mission; The Podcast Blues

Hiya everyone, it’s been a busy couple of  weeks  but I wanted to share my experience with what my group and I have been up to f or my  intro to digital media  mission .  F irst my group and I decided on Interactive fiction because that’s what stood out to me, But I've always been a big fan of podcasts and I know a lot of friends that listen to them whenever they fall asleep to make overthinking less of a problem.  We decided to change to digital audio, as it doesn’t put a lot of pressure on us but it’s still something out of our comfort zones. On the first day we made a  whatsapp  group as one of the people in our group preferred to speak outside of social media. But we tried to keep slack in a way to communicate how we’re getting on and so on. The problem with doing a podcast is you need a quiet place to record yourselves as audio can pick up everything around you so that was going to be a problem. I did all the recommended reading and listened to the relevant podcasts and

Podcast Blues- the process to it all.

I wanted to talk about my process with everyone that's reading this if you ever want to do a podcast yourself, here's some really bad inspo so you can do what i didn't My group and I decided to meet on a day where we all felt comfortable and none of our jobs would interconnect with each-others. One of our main priorities was to find a quiet room so we could all record the podcast without any interruptions. Me and my friend decided to look around the college building to find any places or recording studios to record our  Po dcast  but we were in no luck as all of the rooms were occupied. We decided to leave and find a room on the day of the podcast as our lecturer wasn’t having a class that  da y  so we wanted to test out our luck. Before the podcast, my group and I decided to go into the canteen and brainstorm our ideas for what we were to talk about; college life. We spent about an hour doing this, one of the people in my group was my friend so it would be easier to
