A reflection of the last video - Methodology Chapter

This is my last blog post for the semester, i'll see you in a few months and I hope you all have a great christmas and a new year!  I had an idea on what digital journalism was about, but i didn't know there were so many different forms of it. I researched the different forms that were on this article here and I went from there. There's so many visually pleasing articles such as this , this and this . I had no idea how to do a layout like that so I didn't even try. It makes me sad that digital journalism is expanding at such a rapid pace but at the same time we tend to scroll past it or not see it at all. I had to research ''the most appealing digital journalism articles'' in order to see such beauty and the ones that pop up on my timeline are crappy celebrity gossip articles filled to the brim with stupid ads on weight loss. When making celebrity addict, we learned a lot as a group especially about the editing tools that were used in the making o

Celebrity Addict - A product.

Hiya Lads, So this is our product that we came up with and the brain behind it!  My group and I decided on doing a video mocking celebrity news on Youtube. We wanted to do something else beforehand but we just couldn't figure out how we were gonna go about it. Our lecturer suggested that we could write on a topic but in different forms of media but we were stuck on how to do that. We wanted to do something we were all happy and comfortable with and we decided on Youtube news. We all decided to meet up during college to film the video as one of the people in my group had to go to Roscommon afterwards. Thankfully Megan had a film camera and we brought some props with us to help with the video. We spent hours trying to think of video ideas and we thought of a Kylie Jenner clip and a Lindsay Lohan mental breakdown clip. The video is supposed to be 5 minutes max so we had little to work with. We found a room that was perfect for filming the news broadcast as it was a small room and

Final Mission - Methodology, A Process.

I don't think anyone had any clue what to do for this final mission. We had fewer choices than we did for the last two missions which made it harder to pick. I decided to go with the easier option which was Digital Journalism as for the previous two missions, I wanted to pick something that I hadn't done before and that were going to be a little challenging. Our lecturer wanted to do something completely different which was to make a video of the end product and the process instead of a presentation and we would all be critiquing ourselves by the end of the semester by watching all of the videos in the 2 hour lecture. We could pick anyone from the 5 groups to do this project with and I decided to pick my dearest friend and a girl in my group as she didn't have anyone else to do the project with. We were really nervous doing this because the expectations were supposed to exceed the last two missions and we had to do a video on top of that. Our goals for this mission, we re

Reflection on the devil - IOT

The internet can be a great source of information when researching the Internet of things and that helped me a lot in this project. I spent hours going through different examples of everyday things in IOT in 2019, and that was why we decided to do a mind map based on these examples. A lot of the articles I read, you can read here , here and here . I feel like the best way I learn when I do these missions with my group, is by looking through everyday examples, especially the articles that are made by regular people just reviewing their side of things. In the questionnaire we just brainstormed our ideas and just put them in the survey and I think that's why it failed. You can read my previous blog post explaining what we did wrong and what you can do to prevent that. You have to take time with a survey, it also has to go a specific direction and make sure that the person reading it clearly understands it, you can ask your friend what their opinion about it is to make sure. Wha

IOT - the good and the bad.

I just wanted to talk about what good we did in the mission, and what we could've done to make it better. This is the end product and how it didn't succeed. What I said in my previous blog post about IOT, i had no idea what I was going to be going into - I meant it. This mission was sort of a failure because of the direction we went towards with it. I think it was miscommunication on our parts but that can always happen when it comes to group work.  When we worked on this group project, we ended up working on our own parts as any group would do. I wanted to do some bits about security but I also wanted to explain in detail what IOT is about. The other people in my group talked about the questionnaire, the history of the internet, what IOT is etc.. but the internet didn't really have anything to do with IOT and that was our downfall. When we made the questionnaire , it was all over the place and it led to security issues but our presentation was supposed to be about

Podcast Blues- the process to it all.

I wanted to talk about my process with everyone that's reading this if you ever want to do a podcast yourself, here's some really bad inspo so you can do what i didn't My group and I decided to meet on a day where we all felt comfortable and none of our jobs would interconnect with each-others. One of our main priorities was to find a quiet room so we could all record the podcast without any interruptions. Me and my friend decided to look around the college building to find any places or recording studios to record our  Po dcast  but we were in no luck as all of the rooms were occupied. We decided to leave and find a room on the day of the podcast as our lecturer wasn’t having a class that  da y  so we wanted to test out our luck. Before the podcast, my group and I decided to go into the canteen and brainstorm our ideas for what we were to talk about; college life. We spent about an hour doing this, one of the people in my group was my friend so it would be easier to

Culture Mission; What's so good about IOT??? A PROCESS

Hiya everyone! Haven't written in a while, i've been very busy with college but I'm back at it for my second mission.  In this mission there were various different options from the last creativity mission that we've done on podcasts. This time I had to form an entirely different group which we thankfully did right after our presentations a couple of weeks ago. There were options such as Youtube, memes, blogging but I wanted to do research on something entirely new to me and to the world itself which was Internet of things. Digital audio was pretty self explanatory but I had no idea what I would be doing for Iot and my group felt the same way, i asked my lecturer Shaun and he thought that a questionnaire would be a good idea which we thought was pretty interesting so we went with it. My goals for this mission are entirely different from my previous one. Before we had to think of questions for this questionnaire we had to research the importance of internet of things a
