The internet can be a great source of information when researching the Internet of things and that helped me a lot in this project. I spent hours going through different examples of everyday things in IOT in 2019, and that was why we decided to do a mind map based on these examples. A lot of the articles I read, you can read here, here and here. I feel like the best way I learn when I do these missions with my group, is by looking through everyday examples, especially the articles that are made by regular people just reviewing their side of things.
In the questionnaire we just brainstormed our ideas and just put them in the survey and I think that's why it failed. You can read my previous blog post explaining what we did wrong and what you can do to prevent that. You have to take time with a survey, it also has to go a specific direction and make sure that the person reading it clearly understands it, you can ask your friend what their opinion about it is to make sure.
What I said in my previous blog post, I genuinely convinced my parents to get a coffee machine that connects to the internet because I was so fascinated with IOT. I would've never read about it if it weren't for this mission. Reading about things like this is what keeps the internet interesting. It's what keeps college interesting because when you're doing a course you're happy with, everything in it can be fascinating to you and that's what happened to me. Although this mission turned into a big fail, the information I gathered will stick by me for the rest of my life.
Our presentation that we made was a downfall, we kind of stirred away from the actual end product itself. Even though we gathered a lot of information that was useful in our mission, we as a group were confused about the actual definition about the Internet of things. In our presentation we talked about the history of the internet which was completely out of topic, and stuff like phones, tablets etc.. were examples of internet of things. I know ''INTERNET'' is in the internet of things, and stuff like that can be confusing to us. Even other people that were doing the same topic, were confused by it. But think about extraordinary examples like nest thermostat, security systems, TESLA, fitbit smart watch etc.. and you'll be fine. Anything with SMART in it, is most likely internet of things related.
I feel like I was most proud of the research we actually achieved when it came to the presentation. It mightn't have been good but if we developed on it and completely scratched the internet and focused on the end product it would've been a good mission. My most proud aspect were the everyday examples that I showed in my previous blog post and that's what kept the mission interesting. I was also proud of the security issues that are faced in IOT and I gave examples in the presentation which made it more interesting.
Anyway that's all for this mission, tune in to the disappointment of the next !!! <3
