IOT - the good and the bad.

I just wanted to talk about what good we did in the mission, and what we could've done to make it better. This is the end product and how it didn't succeed.

What I said in my previous blog post about IOT, i had no idea what I was going to be going into - I meant it. This mission was sort of a failure because of the direction we went towards with it. I think it was miscommunication on our parts but that can always happen when it comes to group work.

When we worked on this group project, we ended up working on our own parts as any group would do. I wanted to do some bits about security but I also wanted to explain in detail what IOT is about. The other people in my group talked about the questionnaire, the history of the internet, what IOT is etc.. but the internet didn't really have anything to do with IOT and that was our downfall. When we made the questionnaire, it was all over the place and it led to security issues but our presentation was supposed to be about overall IOT. I feel like group work is the most essential part when it comes to these missions, and if you take a project and don't know what direction you want it to head with your group then that's a problem. Always talk about the pros and cons of your presentation and what you can do to make it better, and always know what direction you're gonna head when making the end product as well.

Internet of things doesn't have anything to do with Phones, Tablets etc.. It's the way we change the internet to make it connect to everyday devices so we can use them to our own advantage. What our group mentioned in the presentation was the internet itself as well, and that's not what IOT is about. SO this can be a lesson learned to the people reading this blog, or to myself in future projects. We're all in this together and at the end of the day, it's the first year! We will all make mistakes and nothing's perfect - cue Hannah Montana music. But I feel like in the second year, I'm probably gonna go into it with an open mind and I'm gonna choose my group carefully. I'm gonna give it my all, because if I don't, the same stuff will happen to me and it's gonna make my life harder in the future.

So I came up with a list of things - to help you with future projects. (This is probably for myself lmao)

1. Always communicate with your group.
2. Focus on the end product mainly, the others can wait.
3. Talk about ''HOW YOU MADE END PRODUCT'''.
4.  Examples are the way to a persons heart.
5. cry  sometimes
6.  thats it

OH YEAH AND HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF IOT, YOU CAN GOOGLE THEM YOURSELVES IF YOU WANT.

The one thing I love about these missions is that no matter what you're researching, it always sticks with you and you end up telling your friend about a fact you read online. I ended up telling my boyfriend about so many future devices that are in the works that are to do with IOT at this very moment and he loved it. I nearly convinced my parents to buy an internet connected coffee machine as they love their coffee. Doing this project gave me a lot to think about but in the future If I had more time i'd spend it on designing some sort of imaginary product that hasn't been thought of yet with my group instead of doing this questionnaire. Doing the questionnaire was also a struggle because a lot of people don't really know much about IOT so it was hard to ask them specified questions. I'm proud of the amount of work we put into this but at the same time I'd put in more if I had the chance because I had so many other assignments to think about and my brain was cramped with them.

Anyway my next blog post will be about the reflection, even though this is basically a reflection. This is how our group did and what you can do to not do what we did. That's a lot of do's and did's so ill leave you with that. Thanks for reading xxx

Creativity mission; The Podcast Blues

Hiya everyone, it’s been a busy couple of  weeks  but I wanted to share my experience with what my group and I have been up to f or my  intro to digital media  mission .  F irst my group and I decided on Interactive fiction because that’s what stood out to me, But I've always been a big fan of podcasts and I know a lot of friends that listen to them whenever they fall asleep to make overthinking less of a problem.  We decided to change to digital audio, as it doesn’t put a lot of pressure on us but it’s still something out of our comfort zones. On the first day we made a  whatsapp  group as one of the people in our group preferred to speak outside of social media. But we tried to keep slack in a way to communicate how we’re getting on and so on. The problem with doing a podcast is you need a quiet place to record yourselves as audio can pick up everything around you so that was going to be a problem. I did all the recommended reading and listened to the relevant podcasts and

Podcast Blues- the process to it all.

I wanted to talk about my process with everyone that's reading this if you ever want to do a podcast yourself, here's some really bad inspo so you can do what i didn't My group and I decided to meet on a day where we all felt comfortable and none of our jobs would interconnect with each-others. One of our main priorities was to find a quiet room so we could all record the podcast without any interruptions. Me and my friend decided to look around the college building to find any places or recording studios to record our  Po dcast  but we were in no luck as all of the rooms were occupied. We decided to leave and find a room on the day of the podcast as our lecturer wasn’t having a class that  da y  so we wanted to test out our luck. Before the podcast, my group and I decided to go into the canteen and brainstorm our ideas for what we were to talk about; college life. We spent about an hour doing this, one of the people in my group was my friend so it would be easier to
